1. Basic System Requirements
To listen to audio of view certain RealPlayer files, you will need the following:
- A sound-enabled computer
- A Pentium or PowerPC processor
- 16 MB RAM
- Windows 95 (or later) or Mac OS
- A 28.8 kbps Internet connection or better
- RealPlayer
2. Which version of RealPlayer should I download?
If your system meets the minimum requirements, download the latest free version. The minimum requirements for this version, as well as earlier versions, are available on the RealNetworks site.
3. Downloading and installing RealPlayer
You can download RealPlayer by clicking on the link below and following the instructions on the RealNetworks site.
When you download it, make a note of the name of the file and the path or folder you saved it in. Once it is
downloaded, you will need to run this file to install the software.

4. RealPlayer test clip
Use this test clip to ensure that you are receiving a clear audio signal and to adjust your sound levels.
The volume on most computers is controlled by:

your RealPlayer window
-
the sound control panel window on your computer
-
your external speakers (or sound system)
-
a volume control on the back of some sound cards
Having any one of them turned "off" will result in no audible sound.
5. Firewall compatibility instructions
If you are behind a firewall and have trouble accessing RealPlayer content, you should try the "HTTP Only" option. This option allows most users behind a firewall to access RealPlayer content.
NOTE: Since the quality may not be as good using this approach, only do so if you cannot access RealPlayer content normally.
To configure RealPlayer to receive content using "HTTP Only":
- Open RealPlayer.
- Select the View menu and click on Preferences. (Options menu in some versions)
- In the Preferences window, click the Transport tab.
- Click Use Specified Transports.
- Click RTSP Settings.
- Click Use HTTP Only.
- Click OK.
- Click PNA Settings
- Click Use HTTP Only.
- Click OK.
- Click OK again to Close Preferences
If you are still having problems accessing RealPlayer content after having done the preceding changes,
refer to the RealNetworks firewall support or contact your system administrator.
